About This Event
The 10th Annual Grand Rapids Asian-Pacific Festival is a vibrant celebration of Asian and Pacific Islander cultures. This year’s event features two days of captivating performances and activities, including live music, traditional dances, martial arts demonstrations, art exhibitions, craft showcases, fashion shows, cultural parades, children’s activities, and interactive games and workshops. Visitors can also enjoy a wide variety of delicious and authentic Asian-Pacific cuisines and shop for merchandise showcasing the region’s rich cultures.
The festival is hosted by each year by the Grand Rapids Asian-Pacific Foundation (GRAPF), which works to bring cultural awareness and resources to support local Asian American Pacific Islander (AAPI) talent and businesses. Come join in the flavor, music, celebration and fun of the Grand Rapids Asian-Pacific Festival!
When is the Grand Rapids Asian-Pacific Festival?
The festival takes place in May each year to coincide with Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month. This year’s schedule is:

- Saturday, June 13 11am-11pm
Where is the Grand Rapids Asian-Pacific Festival?
In Calder Plaza, a huge open-air public square in downtown Grand Rapids. Calder Plaza is within a 10-minute walk of 13 downtown hotels and 300+ restaurants, shops, cultural attractions and entertainment venues.
The Government Center Parking Ramp located directly below Calder Plaza is the most convenient place to park for the festival, but there are numerous other parking facilities close by – including these city-owned ramps and lots. (Here are the parking rates.) You can walk or take a free DASH bus ride from your parking spot to the festival.

See the Lantern Festival at John Ball Zoo, a breathtaking one-mile tour along a path illuminated by handcrafted Asian lantern displays that tell the intersecting story of wildlife and Asian culture. Visit the magnificent Japanese Garden at Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park, named America’s best sculpture park by USA Today. Take the kids to celebrate Father’s Day (June 15) at Grand Rapids Children’s Museum.

Getting to Grand Rapids
Downtown Grand Rapids is located at the intersection of the I-196 and US-131 expressways, and it’s easily accessible from every direction by car. You can also fly in to the Gerald R. Ford International Airport, named the Easiest Airport Journey in North America, which is just 20 minutes from downtown. Grand Rapids is also served by Amtrak and Greyhound Bus.
