About This Event
House of Words is an interactive open mic where creatives have a home that fosters and supports their growth while providing top notch entertainment for those who appreciate performing arts. Poetry, music, comedy, and more - all acts are welcome!
Rotating hosts include local poets Caleb “The Negro Artist” Rainey, G Foster II, Shayna Akanke, Derek Welch, Gleason Edwards, and Amanda Small. HOW takes place the first three Sundays of every month at New Holland Brewing - The Knickerbocker at 5:30PM. The first Sunday of the month is New Sh** Sunday which includes a pre-show workshop/feedback session at 4:30PM and artists are encouraged to bring new material. The second Sunday of the month is Give Back Sunday, when HOW hosts a group or organization to support through donations. The third Sunday is Spotlight Sunday, where audience voting gives artists the opportunity to receive a ten minute spotlight feature that is professionally filmed and shared by HOW on social media.
